Bode is one of the 42 Newar Settlements in the Valley acc. to U. Muller (1984) and one of the 29 Rural Preservation Districts acc. to C. Pruscha (1975). Partially damaged 2015 by earthquake. The origin of the name Bode is Bundye (bun = field and de = country).
